Friends and Family of Incarcerated Persons (FFIP) Holiday Party 2016
Friends and Family of Incarcerated Persons (FFIP) is a support group in Southern Nevada for people who have loved ones in prison. This group has been helping people for over 16 years and been hosting holiday parties for over 10 years! This yearly party provides a safe-haven for people who have loved ones in prison to join together and relax and have fun.
The FFIP team provided food for everyone in attendance as well as prepared donated food. Some attendees even brought more food to share with everyone. There was turkey and the fixings, burritos with chips and salsa, deviled eggs, all kinds of appetizers and yummy desserts!
The event was especially fun for the children! There were activities where they could create animals, rockets and anything their minds could imagine. They also colored in stockings that were then was filled with candy. There was singing, too! This is a safe environment for children to play with other children who are in similar circumstances. Children are just children having fun. For privacy reasons the pictures of the children are not posted.
The highlight of the evening is when Santa arrives, but this year The Grinch showed
up first. There was concern that he might try to steal Christmas, but then Santa walked in and saved Christmas. He met with all the children and gave them all gifts. The local Teamsters asked Santa to attend the FFIP holiday party this year.
The FFIP elves had collected toys all year long, along with toy donations from the David Brownell Team, KW Southwest realtors in Las Vegas.
The FFIP elves arranged all of the toys for Santa so he could give everyone a great gift! The children lined up to tell Santa what they wanted for Christmas and they all said, of course, that they were good this year!
The FFIP team also holds a free raffle to ensure that all teenagers and adults received a gift too. This year a FFIP member donated an Afghan blanket that was raffled off and a lucky attendee will be kept warm throughout the winter.
Special thank you to everyone who made a donation to make this event a success. FFIP provided food and gifts for over 40 adults and 45 children this year who are affected by having a loved one in prison.
