The Heart of the Prison Family
January Speaker will be from NAMI: The National Alliance on Mental Illness Southern Nevada (NAMI SNV) is a local affiliate of the largest mental health grassroots organization in the nation. Our mission is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with mental illness and their families through support, education, and advocacy. When a loved one is taken into the prison system, the emotional distress can affect the entire family unit. NAMI SNV is here to offer support groups and education classes to families who have loved ones that may also have a mental health condition or if they are experiencing a mental health challenge themselves. We will discuss the services and resources that NAMI SNV provides and law enforcement staff will be available to offer valuable insight from an insider’s perspective and answer questions that families may have regarding the prison system.
