Daniel Patrick McCauley says
Hello,
I am the father of a 34-year-old on probation/parole in Maryland after serving time in Montana State Prison.
His name, Ryan McCauley. He is living in Baltimore Station, a homeless shelter in Baltimore. He has been there for six months. He has no income, no work, no supports such as mental health services.
I get daily calls from him and he sounds angry and violent. I am afraid he will be behind bars soon. Ryan needs mental health services. He also has been diagnosed with seizure disorders, and doctors have advised him not to work for a living, but he has been unable to qualify for any form of aid or supports. He was turned down for Social Security.
I am his only point of contact. I am his only source of monetary support, and I am limited in my income source(s) too as a retiree on Social Security myself. I do work full-time in retirement for the insurance benefits and the extra income.
For nearly four months, I have been trying to raise Ryan’s story with organizations similar to you. I have been seeking help with my needs for someone to listen to me. I have gotten no responses, and frankly I do not think you will do any better.
My name — Dan McCauley, 540-490-0358
Ryan’s number is 443-615-3671

Hi Dan, It’s a challenging situation and you may want to reach out to your legislatures to let them know what’s going on, the ACLU or other organizations in the Maryland area to seek support for your son. We’ve added you to the PFA newsletter so you have information on attending meetings for support. There is always hope and talking to others is helpful.
